Full papers (3000 – 6000 words) presenting original research, positioning papers, theoretical reflections, methodological considerations, carefully conducted and well-documented cases studies, etc.
Case Studies (4 000 words) that describe how a particular person, group, project, event, or situation has been studied and object of reflection, including the impact on futures of design education.
Statements of Pedagogy (2000 – 3000 words) outlining a scenario, experience, description, story, a day in the life of…, a design educator.
Conversations (length dependant on case) offering particular insights through written discussions between educators or researchers around some topic, event, debate, etc.
Letters (1000 – 2000 words) presenting some focused position written to other researchers, future or former selves, the field, etc. as a way of exploring issues in a different way.
Visual Submissions (maximum 2000 words) making use of primarily visual content and structures, including: visual cases; storytelling and narratives; new / developing conceptual frameworks, maps, infographics, models.
We welcome submissions from authors with formal academic affiliations or professional organization affiliations, as well as authors that are independent researchers.
Each author can submit a maximum of two works as the lead author. The participant fee includes up to two submissions, all of which are subject to peer review. To be included in the proceedings, at least one of the authors must register, attend, and present their work physically at the conference.
All accepted submissions will be published as part of the Proceedings of Learn X Design series and archived in the DRS Digital Library.
As with all DRS archive publications, all papers will be double blind peer reviewed, with third reviews where necessary. Authors will be expected to engage in reviewing as part of the Call for Papers.
All submissions must be in the English language, should be completely anonymised, and adhere to the conference paper submission guidelines included in the template.

Registration fee includes conference attendance, coffee breaks, lunch breaks (over the three days), the conference dinner (on the second day). Costs of publishing and archiving the proceedings in the DRS Digital Library are also included.
The registration platform will be used for registration, payment of fees, invoice and certificate download.

1 – On the registration platform, you will find the different payment methods available for the Conference.
Please note that the participant is responsible for filling in the invoice details. (Please confirm with your entity if you need to enter the VAT and/or requisition/purchase numbers.) Once you have filled in the invoice details, a proforma invoice will be available if required. After payment, your receipt will also be available on the platform. After the early bird, the registration platform automatically assumes the values defined for payments after the date defined as the early bird. It does not include any insurance.
2 – Registration Cancellation and Refund Policy:
– For Author registration, there is no refund.
– For Participant registration, the following refund rules apply:
. Before July 30, 2025, there is a refund of 75% of the registration fee.
. Between July 31, 2025, and August 30, 2025, there is a refund of 50% of the registration fee.
. After August 31, 2025, there is no fee refund.
Cancellations should preferably be made in writing to Virgínia Lopes at virginiablopes@ua.pt. Alternatively, they may be made through the conference organisers; in this case, an email must be sent to idmais-lxd25@ua.pt.
3 – Certificates of Attendee /Scientific Committee Member/ International Panel of Reviewers:
Your certificate(s) will be made available on the registration platform approximately one week after the end of the conference.
4 – Insurance and liability:
The registration fee does not include personal or property insurance, and the name of the conference Organisation will not assume any responsibility for injury or damage to person or property throughout the event. Participants are therefore advised to make their insurance arrangements as they please (e.g., travel, valuable items, medical assistance, etc.) before travelling to the conference venue. If the conference is postponed or cancelled in its whole due to force majeure events, or due to circumstances not imputable to wrongful intent or gross negligence from the name of conference Organisation, the participants cannot hold the Organisation liable for any damages, costs or losses incurred, such as (but not limited to) travel and accommodation costs or other indirect losses and consequential damages.
